This summer, I started my own gratitude journal, a place where I jot down all the things I'm thankful for, big and small. From my favorite nail polish to the cozy bedtime snuggles with my 8 year old, Hazel. Everything found its way onto those pages.

As I began writing down my blessings, something wonderful happened.  I started to notice and appreciate all the little things that happen every day, those moments that make life special.  The act of writing these things down helped me to constantly be on the lookout for what I was going to write down that evening in my journal. 

A lot of the things I wrote in my journal came to me while I was in my art studio, thinking about my art practice. The happiness I feel when I sit down to paint is indescribable. There's something magical about watching one color touch a puddle and blend with another, creating something entirely new and unexpected. The excitement of tearing into linen and revealing its raw edges, or the feeling of spreading paint on a canvas with my hands, it's all so satisfying. And the joy of mixing colors just right to get that perfect, delightful muddy green! 

These were the things I started to record in my gratitude journal, and the list grew long. It was a mix of different experiences, but the act of writing them down helped me take a moment to truly appreciate these little, delightful moments that I might have otherwise overlooked.

We have much to be thankful for.
