“Tranquil Meadows” 38 x 38 with floating walnut frame

One thing I love is going for walks in the summer and fall.  This summer I had the opportunity to walk along the beach of Lake Superior and collect some beautiful rocks.  I was completely mesmerized at how beautiful and different each rock was from the next.  They were each tiny little works of art.  

This piece of art reminds me of laying in a field with tall grass surrounding you and looking up at the sun and feeling the heat of the sun just permeate every fiber of your being.  Smelling the fresh grass and dirt and honeysuckle and whatever else.. all the delightful smells of nature.  

This piece feels calming and peaceful to me, like a lazy Sunday afternoon.  

For this piece I made the base layer using acrylic, papers and crayons.  I left it to dry completely and came back months later to paint over it and just reveal the long tall cream colored shapes.  I really love how this piece is soft and soothing.
